America's Choice School Design / Ninth Grade Academy
The America's Choice School Design is a standards based, research proven model that is currently used nationwide. To improve student test scores state wide, increase the attendance as well as the graduation rate, the
District introduced the Ninth Grade Academy portion of the America's Choice School Design into the instructional program in September 2007. All entering 9th graders are a part of this Small Learning Community. The 9th grade
Assistant Principal is the administrator coordinating this initiative. Teams of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers are responsible for providing instruction to particular groups of 9th grade students. They are supported by a
guidance counselor, literacy coach and math coach. The preliminary data shows that these students had better attendance as well as an increased percentage passing the four core subjects as compared to last year's.
