The visit was part of the Mid-Hudson Valley Engineers Week program, in which engineers are visiting schools around the region this spring. National Engineers Week, or EWeek, was held Feb. 22-28 this year.
The students first watched a two-minute video focusing on an unbeatable robotic soccer goalkeeper and the science attached to it. Then, they were asked to break into groups to create their own goalie for a shoebox-sized goal using seven straws, three notecards, four paperclips and tape.
Engineers are scheduled to visit Poughkeepsie High School to conduct different lessons next week.
