In advance of Valentine’s Day, Sojourner Truth Elementary School held its inaugural Tall & Small Valentine’s Day Ball Feb. 12, with more than 250 attending.
The semi-formal dance was held in two sessions, with pre-K and kindergarten students in one session and grades 1 and 2 immediately after. Each student was allowed to be accompanied by one parent or guardian ages 18 and up. 
In advance of the dance, the school set up a “Prince Charming and Cinderella Closet,” at which students could access new and gently used semi-formal clothing. Nail techs who volunteered their services also painted the nails during recess periods of any child who submitted a permission slip.
The event, held in the school’s recently renovated cafeteria, was completely free to families, with a suggested donation of a non-perishable food item.
