The Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education passed a resolution on Wednesday January 3, 2018 to have the district participate in the Alternative Veterans' Exemption. Attached is the form that needs to be filled out and sent to the City Assessors Office in order for the exemption to be placed on the Veteran's school tax bill in August of 2018.
If a Veteran currently has an exemption on their 2017 property taxes, it is not necessary for them to complete the form, the exemptions will be rolled over on the school tax rolls for 2018. Only Veterans who do not have the exemption on their 2017 property taxes will need to file the RP-458a form.
