Add your voice to survey on district effectiveness
All district students in grades 3 through 12, parents/guardians and teachers are asked to participate in the upcoming 2025-26 Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness, or DTSDE, survey, which will begin next week.
This key New York State Education Department and district tool is specifically designed to support ongoing effectiveness in school districts.
Each year, the Poughkeepsie City School District reaches out requesting input through this important diagnostic survey. The information gleaned is a critical tool designed supporting district improvement of operations and planning, as it assists the district in developing a deeper understanding of stakeholder concerns, challenges and areas of satisfaction.
Parents and staff will receive an email from “PCSD Survey@poughkeepsieschools.org” requesting their input by the end of the month; students will accrss the survey through a direct link.
Last year, more than half of all students and staff took part in the survey, but less than 1% of all parents and guardians who were sent an invitation engaged with the survey. This left a gap in the information available to the district. Please make sure to participate — share your voice, let us know what you think.
Annually, results are posted of both districtwide and school-specific results. See prior year survey results on this page, part of the Department of Data, Assessment and Accountability area of the district website.
Survey results are acted upon immediately by district administration. Our goal is to further increase and refine our support of student success through the feedback received. In the past, concerns expressed through the survey have led to such changes as increased professional development, increased access to resources for social-emotional learning and engagement, active development of parental engagement through district PTAs, and a broad selection of new enrichment opportunities both inside and outside of school hours.
Your input matters. It is valued and acted upon. Make sure to participate in the upcoming survey when the link arrives in your inbox. We look forward to hearing from you.
