The Poughkeepsie City School District enjoyed a historic first day of the 2025-26 school year. For the first time, bus service was supplied to many elementary students and, under the Elementary Reconfiguration initiative, all five elementary buildings opened with many new students.

Though the changes brought some growing pains that are being addressed, many, including those in the high and middle schools, settled in quickly.

Take a peek at what the day looked like inside several of the district buildings, as students and teachers acclimated to new surroundings and secondary students resumed the important work of preparing to graduate on time.
